Live Updates for Dundalk -v- Cobh Ramblers

Not a vintage performane from Dundalk by any means but their class shone through in the end. Dundalk advance to the next round of the FAI Cup. Cobh still have their (club's first) final in the EA Cup to look forward to. Thanks for following me, Ciarán Fisher, here with the updatese tonight. Niall Newberry will have his report of the game online shortly, but from me it's goodnight.

93'

FULL TIME!

The game has ended between Dundalk and Cobh Ramblers.

90'

We will have three additional minutes here in Oriel Park.

90'

James McSweeney made the decision to head Dylan Connolly's cross out for a corner. It looked like he might turn it into his goal net from here in the press box. I'm sure he had full confidence in what he was doing though! The resulting corner amounts to nothing though, so good call.

85'

GOAL!

Ronan Murray scores for Dundalk. Sean Gannon snipes a ball from the right byline to Murray who pings it neatly past the custodian. That was a really quick move that gave the 'keeper no chance.

79'

The subs have been emptied off the bench and it's disrupted the pace of the game a little. Cobh have had a bit of a breather and some posession in the last few minutes and to their credit, they haven't stopped trying to mix it.

76'

Substitution

Sam Byrne replaces Georgie Kelly for Dundalk.

74'

Substitution

Craig Donnellan replaces Ben O'Riordan for Cobh Ramblers.

69'

McGrath is denied by the... er, nether regions,of Ian Mylod, on the line. Ouch, but it stays at just 2-0 for now. Dundalk are putting on real pressure now but the Cobh defence is still proving a tough nut to crack.

68'

Substitution

Dylan Connolly replaces Michael Duffy for Dundalk.

67'

Substitution

Stephen Kenny replaces Stephen Christopher for Cobh Ramblers. He steps onto the pitch to raucous applause from the home fans which he accepts in good humour. Turns out there is more than one Stephen Kenny.

63'

Danzil Fernandes tested Gary Rogers with a shot at a tight angle. Rogers manages to palm it away and collect the resulting ball. It was struck with real venom that one.

61'

Substitution

Cian Leonard replaces David Hurley for Cobh Ramblers.

58'

Substitution

Dane Massey replaces Robbie Benson for Dundalk.

56'

Cobh did well to weather a sustanined period of Dundalk pressure there, Duffy and McGrath have been causing all sorts of issues for the visitors. But then a long ball is latched onto by Jaze Kabi, who Cleary mistakenly thought was offside. Kabi can't quite find a way around Cleary and runs out of play with the ball.

52'

GOAL!

Jamie McGrath scores for Dundalk. Mc Grath got on the end of a ball into the box but had a lot of work to do still, swapping feet and angling his body at close quarters in a crowded box, he does well to fire home

49'

Jamie Mc Grath looked like he might be have a chance to let one go from inside the D but the ball just wouldn't co-operate, he's forced to poke it out wide to Robbie Benson whose shot doesn't panic anyone in the away camp from a tight angle, it's cleared.

46'

Second Half

The second half between Dundalk and Cobh Ramblers has started.

46'

No changes from either team over the half-time break.

45'

Half Time

It is half-time between Dundalk and Cobh Ramblers. The balance of that game certainly swung in Dundalk's favour in the second quarter of that game. I dare say Cobh will be happy to hear the whistle and get some time to regroup, the Lilywhites were starting to find chinks in the Ram's armoury. I'll be right back with the second half and any changes that might happen in the meantime. There are goals in five of the other six FAI Cup matches being played tonight, which you can check out in the Live Updates section.

40'

Kelly had a great chance to get his name on the scoresheet! Dundalk have tightened up their passing and a few well placed passes had him in the box with a shot on, but he catches his volly a little off and baloons over.

37'

A Dundalk corner from Duffy results in Georegie Kelly attempting a back-heel which Mylod is stretched to save - it was a good effort and a good save but the linesman spots an offside to gift Cobh a free out and a bit of a breather.

33'

Yellow Card

Ian Mylod is booked for Cobh Ramblers. It's a silly one, he was venting after the Dundalk goal with the officials.

31'

GOAL!

Ronan Murray scores for Dundalk. A nice move involving McGrath, Robbie Benson and Duffy put the ball on a plate for Murray to smash a volly home from a foot out.

25'

In the space of two minutes Dundalk have had two decent efforts on goal. First, Ronan Murray tries to scoop the ball over the netminder from the edge of the box - but it's too high. Next up, Georgie Kelly makes ground down the left and catches the 'keeper a yard off his line from a tight angle, his effort rolls across the goalface and narrowly wide.

23'

Cobh have gone with a 4-4-2 formation. Dundalk with a 4-5-1. Former UCD man Georgie Kelly leading the line for the home side. Who can blame Cobh for coming and trying to progress with in the FAI Cup? But they might be treating this a good dress rehersal for their coming final against Derry City, Derry will no doubt have a representative keeping an eye on them here tonight.

19'

Dundalk are 'more' in the game than in the earlier exchanges but it's anything from convincing from the Lilywhites so far. There have been numerous misplaced passes, they are ceeding posession in the middle and Cobh are making life difficult for them.

16'

Jamie McGrath jinks his way into the box and has a shot blocked and put out for a corner. The resulting delivery is headed goalwards by Brian Gartland but it's another simple save for Mylod in the Cobh goal.

15'

Dundalk are coming into the game a bit more now. A few passes finds Sean Gannon in space on the right, he gets a cross away that deflects off an outstretched Cobh defender's leg and requires a save, if a bread and butter one, from Adam Mylod.

11'

Shane 'O Connor tries one from distance and thanks to the low angle of the sun, the home crowd were worried Rogers might see it late. Maybe he did but it was over and wide, just. He was right to try it.

6'

The second corner of the game falls to Cobh, one apiece so far and David Hurley manages to get a shot away from a tamely cleared delivery. He blasts it over. It's been promising for the Rams so far. Barring Duffy's chance in the first move of the game, Dundalk haven't got out of their half.

4'

Cobh making it clear they aren't going to stick to any script; Jaze Kabia takes advangage of the sun creating havoc between Dundalk's backs to steal the ball away and get a one-on-one shot away at Gary Rogers. He saves and then gathers the bouncing loose bouncing ball. A bit of a let off that one.

2'

The first opportunity of the game is created by the home side. Jamie McGrath whips a ball from the right that is pumped over the bar from close range by Michael Duffy.

1'

GAME ON!

Dundalk tip to get the game underway.

0'

If you've had a look at our teamsheet, you'll see Dundalk have made a number of changes for this match. Cobh have made just one from their winning formula.

0'

Ciarán Fisher with you here tonight for the second duel between these two teams in a week. Cobh were suprising, if deserving, victors in the last clash in the EA League Cup. Will the Rams continue on the crest of a wave or will we see a reaction from the Lilywhites today? The teams are on the pitch now so we will find out very soon.
