WEXFORD YOUTHS

Wexford Youths could move nine points clear at the top of the Women's National League, for 24 hours at least, with a win over Galway this evening (kick-off 5pm).

Wexford took firm control of the league table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Peamount United last week and a midweek 3-0 win over Kilkenny United.

Rianna Jarrett scored in either half for Youths again Peamount , once from the penalty spot, before her international strike partner Amber Barrett pulled one back late on.

The rescheduled date with Kilkenny during the week was more straightforward as goals from debutante Doireann Fahey, Orlaith Conlon and Kylie Murphy saw them through.

With six players rotated from the starting line-up at Peamount for the Kilkenny game, Tom Elmes' side should be well-rested ahead of tonight's game.

Anybody attending the game can stick around for the Wexford Youths Women fundraising table quiz, which takes place after the match.

GALWAY

Galway also come into this game on the back of a win over Kilkenny, having eased to a 3-1 victory at Eamonn Deacy Park last Saturday.

Goals from Emma Starr and a double from Aislinn Meaney saw Galway to victory after the visitors had taken a surprise early lead through Meghan Whitty.

A win or a draw for Galway against the champions would lift them above Cork City into fourth position, at least until City play Kilkenny on Sunday.

The one meeting between the two sides this season saw Wexford eke out a 2-1 win at Eamonn Deacy Park.
